Angel Investing

I invest in mission driven technology companies that enable people to be healthier and more capable of creation and exploration. Of particular interest are Digital Design and Manufacturing technologies (especially Additive Manufacturing), Robotic Automation and Class I & II Medical Devices (510k not required). I'm looking for opportunities to invest in founders where: 1. Our relationship can be grounded in mutual trust and shared interest. 2. Founders are invested in their mission for the long haul, and are set to maintain healthy control and ownership while growing. 3. There is a compelling business case with strong alignment between stakeholders. 4. I can contribute to the success of the Mission with more than just dollars (most likely through advising, design, engineering, prototyping or manufacturing)--when appropriate and invited by the founders.

STEAM Scholarship

My wife, Lynn O'Brien, and I are excited to announce the Women’s Health Research & Innovation Scholarship—a scholarship we created with Bold.org to support passionate college students committed to advancing research, medicine, and product development in support of women’s health.

Applications for the $2,000 award will be accepted until August 1, 2025 with the winner announced on August 30.

We care deeply about this space and want to encourage scientists, product developers, medical professionals, and other STEAM students to engage in reshaping women’s healthcare—from foundational research on hormonal cycles to breakthrough products and new healthcare practices. Historically, women have been underrepresented in research, leading to underserved patient needs; this gap also presents meaningful opportunities for innovation and real-world impact.
